Model Kits.

What you see here, are what’s called Resin Model Kits; 160mm to 1/5th scale.

A while back ago, I ran a small online sales business. It was called Monolith Models. It was a transitional period, I was transitioning from Production Studio work, to running my own home studio. Those were trying times. The economy was bad. Studios were struggling to keep the lights on, no one was hiring. So what did I do? I took exactly what I had studied in Art College, and applied it to the Resin Model Kit Industry:

*Basically, it was Life Modeling/Figure Modeling from a live model. 

The only difference, was that instead of making a finished sculpture, (once the RTV-Silicone molds were made, parts Pressure-Cast in resin & de-molded,) the patterns were packaged, and sold as a Kit.

Fundamentally, it was the exact same thing I had studied in College.

The good news is, it worked. I had introduced something that they had never seen before. (Perhaps think of it like Jazz Reggae/Salsa Fusion; It’s the same thing you’ve always done, but to them, it’s something new. Something they’ve previously never heard before.)

And yes, I got a lot of hate for it. A lot of static. (Think ‘Mr. Comic Book Guy’, from the Simpsons.) But what I did find, is that there was a contingency who, not only understood what I was doing, but loved it. Add to that the BDSM Lifestyle of San Francisco City (Where I was living at the time) And now we’ve got something new.
