'Thieves in My Garden', Male Nude.
An Idol of the God Priapus. Son of Aphrodite, God of Fertility and vegetation, the Garden and all things living and growing therein.
28 inches tall, limited to 100. Gypsum cement/mixed media, 'Natural' white in color, with a satin finish.
(By 'natural white', I mean it has some naturally occurring discolorations, due to the lime deposits in the material.) It is sealed with a clear, satin finish.
58 lbs.
In ancient times, the Idol of Priapus was placed in a garden for good harvest, and to protect against would-be thieves. In this sculpture, I have chosen a young, faun-like, Hellenic depiction.
